![]() ![]() In 1955, at the age of 59 years old, Paul was alive when in January, President Eisenhower sent direct aid to South Vietnam. His films were at first banned - the ban was lifted after a year - and he was mostly ostracized by the community. He was acquitted after three trials and the jury wrote a formal letter apologizing for the charges, but his career never recovered. In 1921, Paul was 25 years old when hugely popular Roscoe "Fatty" Arbuckle, silent film star, was arrested for rape and manslaughter after an actress died following a party at his house. She said after a meeting with Baden-Powell, "I've got something for the girls of Savannah, and all of America, and all the world, and we're going to start it tonight!" And she did. In 1912, Paul was 16 years old when the Girl Scouts of the USA was started by Juliette Gordon Low with the help of Sir Robert Baden-Powell, the founder of Boy Scouts in Great Britain. ![]() Edsall claimed to be going 4.5 mph and Driscoll's death was ruled an "accidental death" after an inquest. Bridget Driscoll, age 44, was walking with her family on the grounds of The Crystal Palace in London when she was hit by a car driven by Arthur James Edsall. In 1896, in the year that Paul Tomich was born, on August 17th, the first pedestrian v car fatality occurred in Great Britain.
